Champion Hurdle Contenders Bullish
Connections to a number of the Cheltenham Festival’s Champion Hurdle contenders have come out in support of their horse’s chances ahead of Tuesday’s showpiece race.
Starluck’s trainer Alan Flemming has reported that his horse is in top condition and fancy his chances if he can get the small bit of in-running luck that all horses need. Paul Nicholls has stated that his challenger Celestial Halo has every chance given his preference for this time of year and Khyber Kim looks primed to go close in a wide open affair. However, all are aware that Go Native is the horse to beat here and his favouritism at 4/1 with Sportingbet is more than justified.
The ante-post betting for this year’s Champion Hurdle has been an extremely topsy-turvy affair for both bookmakers and punters alike. First Binocular’s participation was largely in doubt then second favourite Solwhit was also reported to be a possible withdrawal resulting in the odds fluctuating dramatically on a day to day basis. Now that the final field of 12 have been confirmed it looks to be one of the most closely contested races of the festival and it would be no surprise to see any one of nine come home in front.
