Wigan v Aston Villa Betting Preview 16/03/2010

Aston Villa have been playing catch up in the race for fourth place as far as games played goes but this week they get their chance to put some points on the board at the DW stadium. Wigan have been amid an awful run of form in recent months aside from one momentous victory over Liverpool last Monday. Many thought that such an important win over a side they have never beaten in their history would galvanise their season but they reverted to type at the weekend when they were beaten 4-0 in a relegation six-pointer against Bolton.

That result against Liverpool showed what Wigan can do when on form and has forced the bookies to price Aston Villa at some rather generous prices, 5/4 from Totesport (Go to Totesport ») being one of the best around. Whilst Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») go 5/2 on another Wigan home win and Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») are 23/10 for the game to end all square.

If Villa can take all three points then they will go above Liverpool in the table and be just three points behind fourth placed Tottenham with a game in hand. There is also great incentive for English duo Stewart Downing and Ashley Young as Fabio Capello will be looking on in search of a replacement for the recently injured David Beckham ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
