William Hill Trophy Cheltenham Betting

With 19 fences to jump and open to horses aged five years or older the William Hill Trophy is the first race of the Cheltenham Festival to be ran over a distance of 3 miles or greater. The 2010 Cheltenham William Hill Trophy looks a tough one to predict on paper; only two horses are likely to go off at odds of shorter than 10/1 with Bensalem and The Package vying for favouritism at the head of the 24 runner field.

It goes without saying that picking a winner here is a difficult task, however, each-way bettors can improve their chances by betting with William Hill (Go to William Hill »), Skybet (Go to Skybet ») or Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») who are all paying five places instead of the standard four.

Last year’s winner came courtesy of the familiar AP McCoy and Jonjo O’Neill combination in the famous JP McManus colours. This year the jockey and trainer duo have put their faith in Theatrical Moment who has won his last two races and was also a Cheltenham Festival winner at last year’s event. More than a quarter of the field have won at Prestbury Park throughout their careers with old stalwarts like Joe Lively and Comply Or Die topping the weights and the aforementioned The Package winning here back in December of this season.
