Iain Dowie new manager at Hull
Iain Dowie is expected to make a return to management with Hull City today and his remit will be straightforward – keep Hull in the Premier League. Simple and uncomplicated for a journalist to write on a notepad and report to the public, infinitely more difficult for the manager to achieve in practice. Hull are three points adrift of safety and odds on across the board to be relegated, where Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») and Coral (Go to Coral ») offer the best prices of 8/11. With 24 points on the board they are a massive 16 points short of that magical 40 point target, although it is expected that survival this year will require considerably less, the enormity of the task for Dowie is abundantly clear.
The swiftness in which Hull chairman Adam Pearson has moved to appoint a new manager is a reflection of how important Hull’s upcoming games are. This weekend they travel to bottom club Portsmouth, and then home games against Fulham and Burnley follow in the subsequent three weeks. If Dowie can have the sort of immediate impact that new managers often do then it might not be all over for The Tigers just yet, but you just have to look at events at Turf Moor to see that things don’t always quite work out as planned.
