West Ham v Wolves Betting Preview – 23/03/2010

In the Premier League there are big games and there are massive games, this one falls into the latter category as the winner would move at least six points clear of the dreaded drop zone. The teams come into this game in a contrasting mental state after Wolves won an unlikely point away to Aston Villa on Saturday whilst West Ham were comprehensively beaten at Arsenal losing their fourth game on the bounce. Carlton Cole’s return to the side is a timely boost for Gianfranco Zola and Hammers fans.

Given that West Ham have won 19 of their 27 points on home soil it is perhaps justifiable that they are the odds on favourite, but those backing them at that price should also note that Wolves have picked up just under 50% of their points away from home.

In the relegation betting market William Hill (Go to William Hill ») are 11/4 on Wolves to be relegated and 5/1 on West Ham to go down. Those prices are likely to completely reverse if Wolves can take maximum points from this fixture whilst a draw is likely to be welcomed from both sides given the circumstances.
