Aston Villa v Sunderland Betting Preview

Two home games in five days against teams that struggle on their travels were seen as the ideal opportunity for Aston Villa to get six points on the board. However, two points dropped against Wolves on Saturday means that this Wednesday’s game against Sunderland is now a must win for Martin O’Neill and his players if they are to maintain their push for that fourth place finish.

Sunderland haven’t won away from home in the league since the opening day of the season but whilst that was beginning to become a major issue for The Black Cats, eight points from four consecutive home games have relieved the pressure and they will now be able to play with a greater freedom on their travels.

Aston Villa are best priced at 8/13 with Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») with Sunderland available to back at 11/2 with Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») to get that elusive second away win of the season. With Liverpool also dropping points at the weekend and a game against Manchester City still to come toward the end of the season all is not lost for Villa just yet, but anything less than maximum points this midweek and they will face and they may just have to settle for a Europa League spot.
