Aston Villa Next Manager Betting

Rumours are rife in Birmingham that Martin O'Neill has quit as manager of Aston Villa following a disagreement with club owner Randy Lerner over the forthcoming summer's transfer budget. Although reports have been rubbished by club officials, the bookmakers have cut O'Neill's odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post from 66/1 into 7/1.

Villa suffered a humbling 7-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at the weekend which on the back of home draws against Wolves and Sunderland means that their fourth place aspirations are all but dead and buried. Their hopes for this season now rest on their semi-final tie against Chelsea in 10 days time; defeat there would end all aspirations in what promised at one stage to be a fruitful season for the second city’s top side.

Skybet (Go to Skybet ») are offering odds on who will be the next permanent manager at Villa Park and have former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes installed as the red hot favourite. They have him as a 1/2 shot to take over if and/or when O'Neill decides to take leave. Steve McClaren is a 6/1 chance, Alan Curbishley can be backed at 8/1 whilst the likes of Slaven Bilic, Jose Mourinho, David Moyes and Jurgen Klinsman are all listed at bigger odds.
