Wayne Rooney Could Make Shock Return From Injury
Reports have been circulating around Old Trafford and from some media outlets that Wayne Rooney could make a sensational return to first team action against Bayern Munich this week, just one week after being pictured hobbling out of the Allianz Arena on crutches.
The initial prognosis suggested that Rooney would be out of action for up to four weeks but after falling to defeat to Chelsea without their talisman, Alex Ferguson will be keen to get him back as soon as possible. The England striker's powers of recovery were highlighted when he made a swift recovery from the metatarsal injury that threatened to keep him out of Euro 2004 and even if he doesn't return against Bayern this Wednesday he is expected to be back in action for Sunday’s tricky trip to Ewood Park.
United are available to back at odds of 8/11 with Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») to win their Champions League second leg, a price which will surely shorten if Rooney is declared fit to play. Bayern Munich are 4/1 to win with most bookies including Totesport (Go to Totesport ») and the 'To Qualify' market is priced up as the flip of a coin with both teams available at around Even money.
If you haven't already then you could also take advantage of the £66 Blue Square (Go to Blue Square ») free bet for this midweek's Champions League action and attempt to build up a substantial war chest ahead of this Saturday's Grand National.
