McCoy Chooses Grand National Ride
Tony McCoy has opted to ride Don’t Push It at this year’s Grand National rather than stable mate Can’t Buy Time. McCoy is aiming to win his first ever Grand National at Aintree this year.
The 14-time champion jockey has won every other prize in the sport but the most prestigious one still eludes him. In his 14 rides the best place finish that he has managed is third on three separate occasions and was also severely hindered by a loose horse in 2005 when seemingly on course for victory with Clan Royal.
Can’t Buy Time will be ridden by Grand National virgin Richie McLernon aboard what will now be considered the Jonjo O’Neill second string horse. Both O’Neill and partnered owner JP McManus provide winless Grand National company for McCoy and the trio will be eager to break their duck this year.
Don’t Push It can be backed at 25/1 withTotesport (Go to Totesport ») whilst Can’t Buy Time has drifted out to a big 40/1 with Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet »).
