General Election Second TV Debate Betting

David Cameron has heaped pressure on his own shoulders ahead of tonight’s second General Election televised debate by proclaiming that it is “make or break” time for the Conservative campaign.

Nick Clegg’s strong performance in last week’s TV debate threw opinion polls and betting markets into chaos as the Liberal Democrat leader acquired support from all corners of the general public. His current popularity has forced the bookmakers to price him up as the odds on favourite, 10/11 with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports »), to build on that recognition and top the opinion polls based on the second TV debate.

The debate which will centre around International Affairs isn’t expected to go well for Gordon Brown and his Labour government who will be forced to answer questions on the ongoing issues in Afghanistan and Iraq amongst others. At 9/1 with Totesport (Go to Totesport ») to win the second TV debate Brown could be in for a difficult evening.

It is Cameron however who has the most to lose; the Conservative party stranglehold in the opinion polls has diminished significantly in the last week and now their leader must reassert himself. At odds of 11/8 with Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») to win the TV debate you can be sure that Cameron’s people have devised a new plan of attack for this evening and he may be the value bet for punters looking for a bet.

Tonight’s debate will take place in Bristol and will be screened on the Sky News channel from 20:00.
