TV Debate Bigot Betting: Round 3
The third and final of the televised General Election debates between the major political party leaders will take place in Birmingham tonight and is to be screened live on the BBC.
No doubt David Cameron and Nick Clegg were rubbing their hands together with glee as Gordon Brown made the biggest gaffe of the campaign so far when calling an elderly Rochdale voter a bigot, before switching off his attached microphone. As expected Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») were quick to pounce on the Prime Minister’s blunder and are offering a betting market on who will be the first leader to say ‘Bigot’ in tonight’s debate. Cameron is an Even money favourite to get the first dig in whilst Clegg is 2/1 and Brown himself is a 5/2 shot.
Cameron is also the betting favourite for the debate itself. After Clegg’s landslide victory in the polls taken after the first of the TV debates, the second round polls showed a share of opinion between the Conservative and Liberal Democrat leaders. Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») make Cameron a 5/4 shot to end this three week stint on a high, with Brown, who is in much need of a popularity boost, at 4/1 with Bet365 (Go to Bet365 »).
The debate will be run under the general topic of ‘economic affairs’ and will be chaired by Question Time’s David Dimbleby.
