Eurovision Betting Latest
With a matter of weeks to go until the first of the Eurovision semi-finals there appears to be no relenting in the popularity of Azerbaijan’s Safura Alizade and Germany’s Lena Meyer-Landrut. More than half of the money matched on Betfair’s Eurovision winner market has been bet on the two favourites with Azerbaijan holding the slenderest of leads in the favouritism stakes.
Israel are the only other entry which is available at single figure odds, 8/1 with Extrabet (Go to Extrabet »), and will be represented by Harel Skaat who was voted second in an Israeli poll on their singer of the decade for The Noughties.
Denmark command fourth favouritism at odds of 11/1 with Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet ») and will be represented by a duet of Chanee and N’evergreen performing “In A Moment Like This” after they won through the Danish annual selection competition Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.
The bookmakers aren’t giving United Kingdom contest Josh Dubovie much chance of improving on last year’s amicable fifth place finish by Jade Ewen. Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») offer odds of 100/1 on Dubovie becoming the first UK Eurovision winner since Katrina & The Waves were victorious in 1997.
And as for Eurovision’s most decorated nation, Ireland, they are being offered at odds of 33/1 for Niam Kavanagh to return them to their former glories.
