Tour de France 2010 Betting Preview
The 2010 edition of the Tour de France is now underway with the riders passing through Netherlands and Belgium during the first three stages of the event. This is the first time since 1996 that the event has been started in Netherlands and the routes have been designed to replicate some features of cycling’s spring classics.
Last year’s winner Alberto Contador is the clear Tour de France 2010 betting favourite with the bookmakers, with Paddy Power offering a best price of 8/13 about the Spaniard. American Lance Armstrong is the 7/1 co-second favourite along with last year’s runner-up Andy Schleck.
Last year’s ‘Points Classification’ winner Thor Hushvod is favourite to once again take that accolade and the green jersey with Great Britain’s Mark Cavendish – winner of 6 stages at last year’s Tour de France – second favourite on Betfair.
Spaniard Egoi Martinez is the ‘King of the Mountains’ favourite with Jerome Pineau hot on his heels in the betting.
The cyclists will cover a total of 3,462 kilometres over the course of 22 days, with just two rest days allowed to the riders in that period. The Tour de France continues to the ultimate test in physical and mental strength for athletes the world over.
