Fernando Torres Transfer Betting
The race is well and truly on to secure the signature of Liverpool and Spain striker Fernando Torres. This morning’s reports suggest that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is South Africa bound with the intention of talking to the player regarding a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
Abramovich is reported to have authorised a bid of £50million for the striker who has had a disappointing World Cup to date. Barcelona are also said to be interested but it is unlikely that they can raise the necessary funds, whilst Manchester City are inevitably being linked but without the lure of Champions League football it is unlikely that they can attract the much sought after striker.
Paddy Power have trimmed their odds on Torres being a Chelsea player at the start of next season into 5/2 with Manchester City at 3/1. Liverpool remain the betting favourites to hold onto the player until the start of the season at least with odds of 8/11 suggesting that the player may eventually opt to stay on Merseyside.
