Premier League Transfer Rumours 09 July

Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy I've come home, I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window..... Sol Campbell sheds new meaning on the notion of singing for your supper....

Sunderland;
Arsenal
don’t want him, Celtic aren’t sure if they want him and so Sol Campbell has now gone cap in hand to Steve Bruce in search of that all important top-flight two-year-contract that the man who began last season at Notts County believes he deserves.

Manchester United;
With Wesley Sneijder making his intentions to stay at Inter Milan abundantly clear United are now reported to be turning their attentions to Mesut Ozil who lit up Germany’s World Cup campaign in South Africa.

Ozil is a young player who fits the criteria set out by Sir Alex Ferguson that any big money signings must have a resale value, and so on that basis the reported interest in the player does look viable.

Manchester City;
According to The Sun City are lining up a £20million bid for Didier Drogba. Quite why Chelsea would be willing to sell last season’s Premier League top goal scorer for a fraction of the price it would cost to bring in an injury-prone Fernando Torres is something that The Sun fail to explain, but that is of course irrelevant in the business of making up nonsense.

Tottenham;
A relatively quiet day in the newspapers for Spurs today – Harry Redknapp must have been away fishing yesterday – with The Sun resorting to regurgitating old news. A report which doesn’t even have the audacity to quote a ‘source’, says that Steven Pienaar is once again the subject of Redknapp’s attentions.
