Steven Gerrard Transfer Betting

Whether Steven Gerrard would have entertained a move to Real Madrid this summer may forever be open to debate, because, it now appears, the Spanish side are no longer interested in his services.

Madrid’s transfer consultant has today deemed Gerarrd to be too old and too expensive – hardly surprising if the quoted price tag of £58million is to be believed – and has thus ruled out a move for the 30-year-old England captain.

It would appear that the only other likely suitors for Gerrard are Inter Milan, although it would be a surprise to see him reunited with Rafael Benitez, and Manchester City, it would perhaps be even more surprising if he were to move to another English club.

And so it looks like Steven Gerrard will remain at Anfield, perhaps for the rest of his career. Paddy Power are offering odds of 4/11 that he is still at the club when the transfer window closes at the end of August, and although short odds that could be as close as we get to buying money this summer.
