Thierry Henry Signs for New York Red Bulls
Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has joined New York Red Bulls on a “multi-year contract” from Spanish champions Barcelona.
The former France captain joined Barcelona for a fee in the region of £16million back in June 2007 and went on to score 49 goals for the Catalan giants, helping his side to win two La Liga titles, a Champions League, a Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa club World Cup.
Henry is expected to make his debut for Red Bulls against Tottenham in a friendly next Thursday after moving to the MLS on a free transfer.
Upon signing for his new club the player commented “my sole goal during my time here is to help win the club its first championship. I am confident that my team-mates and I will succeed.”
New York Red Bulls are 6/1 with Bwin to win 2010/11 MLS, whilst David Beckham’s LA Galaxy are 5/2.
