Premier League Transfer Rumours 15 July
We probably should have guessed it would happen, but the tabloids seem to be on a crusade to link each and every player who played at the World Cup with a move to the English Premier League in one form of transfer rumour or another.
Manchester United;
The Daily Mail are today linking Manchester United with a move for Germany full-back Philipp Lahm who had a hugely impressive World Cup. However, it looks as though they will have to curtail their approaches for Mario Balotelli who Inter Milan say is not for sale.
Liverpool;
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Roy Hodgson will fly out to Spain to meet with Fernando Torres to discuss his future. Not quite sure how that will go down with El Nino, imagine your granddad turning up whilst you’re sunning git on a lounger.
Torres’s injury doesn’t seem to have put off Chelsea as they are said to be ready to step up their efforts to sign the striker.
Sunderland;
Steve Bruce confirmed that he had placed a bid for an unnamed player following his side’s recent friendly win in Ireland, and the papers are this morning reporting that it could be either Danny Welbeck or Nedum Onuoha who The Black Cats are keen on.
West Ham;
Alessandro Diamanti and Radoslav Kovac could be on their way to Olympiakos as the Hammers look to trim their wage bill and put together a more compact squad ahead of the new season.
And in completely unrelated and irrelevant news Mike Tyson made an appearance at West Ham’s friendly against Peterborough yesterday. Avram Grant’s side won 2-1.
