Joe Cole Signs For Liverpool
England midfielder Joe Cole has signed for Liverpool pending a medical after the club and player agreed on a four-year contract.
Cole, who is believed to have also held talks with Arsenal and Tottenham since becoming a free agent, will be new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson’s first signing since taking over at the club and represents a real coup for the club.
Hodgson is thought to be working to a strict budget since taking over at Anfield and will be delighted to bring in the midfielder who will be seen as a direct replacement for Yossi Benayoun.
Liverpool get their season underway at the end of this month with a Europa League qualifier against either Rabotnicki Kometal or Mika Ashtarak. They are 12/1 second favourites with Stan James to go on and win the tournament which Roy Hodgson took Fulham to the final of last season.
