Premier League Transfer Rumours 22 July

A brief roundup of the Premier League transfer rumours that are making their way into the nation’s newspapers today.....

Manchester City;
Barely a day, nay an hour, goes by without Manchester City being linked with a player in the tabloids, but when manager Roberto Mancini declares his interest you know that there is some truth in it.

The strangest one of the last few weeks is Landon Donovan who Mancini today said “is a good player. It’s possible,” when asked about the American. With an embarrassment of riches at hand, you would think that City could set their sights a little higher.

Liverpool;

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Roy Hodgson will make a move for Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge. With the impending arrival of Aleksandar Kolarov Bridge could become surplus to requirements at Eastlands and if Hodgson can get him on the cheap would represent another good signing for Liverpool’s new manager.

Chelsea;

It appears that Benfica and Brazil midfielder Ramires is Carlo Ancelotti’s number one target at present. Chelsea will be looking to add at least one midfielder to their ranks following the departure of Joe Cole and Michael Ballack and it looks as though they are willing to pay as much as £20million for the defensive midfielder.

Sunderland;

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is said to be interested in opening discussions with England goalkeeper David James who is available on a free transfer. Injury to Craig Gordon means that Sunderland could be looking for a new ‘keeper.
