James Milner Transfer Betting

Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has revealed that midfielder James Milner wishes to leave the club and that he is resigned to losing the England international.

Talk of a move away from Villa Park for Milner has been rife throughout the summer with Manchester City perceived as the most likely suitors, although manager Roberto Mancini is keen to make a statement and not be held to ransom because of City’s well known fortunes. Skybet are offering odds of just 1/5 that Milner is a City player by the time the transfer window closes.

If City don’t get their man, for whatever reason, then it appears that Chelsea are the only other club in the running. However, they have consciously reigned in their spending in the last few seasons and if City don’t deem the player to be worth the money that Villa are asking then it is unlikely that Chelsea will either. Skybet make Chelsea a 5/1 chance to sign the player this summer.

If, and maybe when, Milner leaves O’Neill will certainly be looking to bring someone in to replace him. West Ham midfielder Scott Parker is being touted as the number one target but The Hammers’ co-owner David Sullivan has said that “he really is not for sale.”
