Premier League Transfer Rumours 27 July

‘Showdown talks’ and ‘crisis meetings’ seem to be all the rage this week as us fans hang on the words of every Premier League transfer rumour and await the deal that sparks the merry-go-round into life...

Liverpool;
Following showdown talks with manager Roy Hodgson it looks as though Javier Mascherano will be the first big name player to leave Liverpool this summer. It is widely believed that he will opt to rejoin former manager Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.

Manchester City;
Inter are likely to fund the move for Mascherano by selling striker Mario Balotelli to Manchester City for around £25million. It is also being reported that City will offer Aston Villa Shaun Wright-Phillips as part of a player-plus-cash deal to get James Milner to Eastlands.

Chelsea;

Carlo Ancelotti is still closely tracking Brazilian midfielder Ramires but could hit a stumbling block in the player’s third-party owner Kia Joorabchian. For those of you who don’t remember, Joorabchian is the agent who was involved in the whole Carlos Tevez to West Ham affair and the Premier League are keen to avoid a repeat of that situation.

Manchester United;
The Sun report that Manchester United are weighing up a £13million bid for Belgian midfielder Steven Defour.

Arsenal;

Arsene Wenger is still to sign a goalkeeper after hinting that he would almost certainly be doing so, however Manuel Almunia is today being linked with a return to the club where he started his career, Osasuna. Mark Schwarzer remains the only name being touted as a possible replacement.
