England v Pakistan 1st Test Betting
England have won the toss and elected to bat on a fairly overcast morning at Trent Bridge. Andrew Strauss has deemed that conditions are conducive to putting some runs on the board, despite watching Ricky Ponting make the same decision amid similar conditions last week.
Australia were bowled out for just 88 on that day after some world-class new-ball bowling from Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif. Pakistan captain Salman Butt has named an unchanged side from the one that went on to beat Australia in convincing fashion that day.
England’s side is pretty much as expected with Tim Bresnan being left on the sidelines. James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Steven Finn make up a three-man pace attack which will be complimented by the spin of Graeme Swann. Kevin Pietersen slots straight back into the side and Eoin Morgan keeps his place at number six.
England are the clear betting favourites at odds of 8/11 with Stan James, but if Pakistan can get off to another fast start, as they did against the Aussies, then odds of 7/2 with Bet365 could look rather large by the end of the day’s play.
