Scotland Squad for Sweden Friendly

Scotland manager Craig Levein has announced his squad for next week’s friendly against Sweden in Stockholm; the major surprise being the inclusion of disgraced Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

McGregor, along with Barry Ferguson, had previously been given a lifetime ban for his behaviour under previous Scotland manager George Burley. One of Levein’s first decisions after taking over the national team was to abolish the life time bans; however, McGregor was omitted from the former Dundee United manager’s first squad for a friendly against Czech Republic.

A recent injury to Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon means that the Rangers keeper now has a chance to make amends for his past demeanours. Stephen McManus has also been recalled to the squad after being dropped for the previous game.

Scotland can be backed at odds of 27/11 with Bwin to beat Sweden, the hosts are 20/19 and the draw is 23/10.

The full Scotland squad is as follows;

Alexander (Rangers), Marshall (Cardiff), McGregor (Rangers); Hutton (Tottenham), Berra (Wolves), Broadfoot (Rangers), McManus (Middlesbrough), Wallace (Hearts), Webster (Rangers), Whittaker (Rangers), Adam (Blackpool), Brown (Celtic), Dorrans (West Brom), Fletcher (Manchester United), McCulloch (Rangers), Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), Robson (Middlesbrough), Thomson (Middlesbrough), Boyd (Middlesbrough), Fletcher (Wolves), Iwelumo (Burnley), McFadden (Birmingham), Miller (Rangers).
