Celtic v Braga Champions League Betting Preview

A 3-0 defeat in any match is seen as a disappointment, to be on the receiving end of such an emphatic score line in your opening game of the season is demoralizing, but when that game is the first leg of a Champions League qualifier it is catastrophic.

That is the situation which Celtic find themselves in after a humbling defeat in Portugal last week. To be frank Braga tore Celtic apart and whilst the Glasgow team probably didn’t expect to come away from the game with a lead, they would not have anticipated having to turn around a 3-0 deficit at Parkhead tonight.

Home advantage makes Celtic the overwhelming favourites with bookmaker Stan James who offer odds of 5/6 the Scottish side. However, I personally wouldn’t be rushing to back them at that price given the way that they were outclassed last Wednesday. Backing the draw at 12/5 or Braga at 3/1 looks a lot more tempting to me.

One thing that I think we can be certain of is that there will be goals in this game. Celtic have to go for the jugular, and if they can’t score then they are certain to leave gaps at the back as they push forward. Back over 2.5 goals at odds of 10/11 with William Hill.
