There are also reports afoot that Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Young will be subject to a £20m bid that would see Robbie Keane moving in the opposite direction.

Fulham;
Mark Hughes is looking to bring in Algerian defender Rafik Halliche as his first signing since becoming Fulham manager. However, it is looking increasingly likely that he will lose Mark Schwarzer to Arsenal after the goalkeeper reportedly handed in a transfer request.

West Ham;
The Hammers are closing on a deal for Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou, brother of Bruno, and are boosted by the news that Scott Parker is ready to commit his future to the club by signing a new 4-year contract.

Manchester City;
Craig Bellamy has said that he could quit football if he is not named in Roberto Mancini’s 25-man squad for the new Premier League season. However, I am willing to put my neck on the line and say that that may turn out to be a false promise when push comes to shove.
