Premier League Transfer Rumours August 16

After an action packed opening weekend to the new Premier League season, there is no abating on the transfer rumour front....

Aston Villa;
Not really a transfer rumour as such, but we couldn’t ignore the newspaper stories that Diego Maradona would apparently be interested in taking over at Villa Park. Brilliant. That is all. Quite simply, brilliant!

Tottenham;
Harry Redknapp is said to be keen on taking Craig Bellamy to White Hart Lane after the striker was apparently shunned from the Manchester City training ground and is now training with Cardiff City. Any interest that Redknapp maintained in Scott Parker must surely now have evaporated with the West Ham midfielder set to sign a new contract to stay at Upton Park.

Birmingham;
Alex McLeish is looking to bring in Matt Derbyshire on loan from Greek side Olympiakos and are also thought to have tabled an £8m bid for unsettled Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia. 

Liverpool;
Roy Hodgson is said to be looking at PSV Eindhoven’s Swedish striker Ola Toivonen.

Chelsea;
Nemanja Matic could join Bologna on a season-long loan.
