USA Ryder Cup Team Betting

Bubba Watson catapulted himself into the US Ryder Cup team with his second place finish at the US PGA Championship. The left hander moved from 15th in the US Ryder Cup standings up to third when he was defeated in the play-off by Martin Kaymer at Whistling Straits.

The US PGA was the final event in which American players can gain points towards getting into the Ryder Cup team with the top eight in the standings automatically making Corey Pavin’s team. Watson is joined in the team by Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Jeff Overton.

That of course means that Tiger Woods is relying on one of four captain’s picks in order to make the team, as are the likes of Anthony Kim and Lucas Glover.

Betfair punters seem to think that Woods will be picked by Pavin and you can back the world number one at 1.15 to be in the US team. However, his erratic driving and poor form with the putter means that he is unlikely to play many of the team matches, unless his form improves dramatically between now and the October 1 start at Celtic Manor.
