It has been confirmed that Vitali Klitschko will make the seventh defence of his WBC Heavyweight title against American Shannon Briggs.

Briggs who is now 38-year-old has not recorded a notable victory since beating Sergei Liakovich to win the WBO title in 2006 and is largely considered to be way past his best. This seemingly one sided contest pours more scorn on the poor state of the heavyweight division.

The betting odds on this fight show just how one sided a contest it is expected to be with Klitschko priced at odds of 1/40 with Sportingbet.

The fight comes about due to the lack of credible opponents for Vitali and the fact that he refuses to fight his brother Wladimir.

With WBA Champion David Haye still yet to agree a fight with either of the Klitschko brothers and with Vitali set to turn 40 next year it looks as though time is running out for the Englishman to agree on a deal.
