Next Aston Villa Manager Betting

Just as it looked as though Kevin MacDonald could be offered the Aston Villa job on a permanent basis Newcastle went and smashed six past them and has forced Randy Lerner’s hand. Coincidentally USA manager Bob Bradley confirmed his interest in the job prior to the game and is now the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Martin O’Neill on a permanent basis.

Bradley’s lack of experience in Europe would represent a massive risk for the Villa board to take, but the lack of any other credible candidates makes an approach for him a more likely prospect by the day. Lerner and the Villa hierarchy have remained relatively tight-lipped on the whole situation since O’Neill’s surprise departure, a decision which could prove to cost the club dearly.

It is now extremely unlikely that a new manager will be appointed before the end-of-month transfer deadline, which would of course mean no opportunity for the new man to strengthen the squad. However, the opportunity to sell players still remains and perhaps the reason behind O’Neill’s exit may become clearer in the next eight days.

So, as things stand, Bradley is the 7/4 favourite with Bet365, Sven Goran Eriksson is a 4/1 chance and Kevin MacDonald is a 7/1 shot. Only one other name has shortened considerably in the next Aston Villa manager betting in the aftermath of that 6-0 defeat, and that is former Germany striker and manager Jurgen Klinsmann who can now be backed at 6/1.
