Fed Ex Cup Betting

Golf’s FedEx Cup tees off today with the world’s elite golfers congregating in New Jersey for The Barclays at the Ridgewood Country Club.

Tiger Woods, fresh from his divorce and £60m payoff to ex-wife Elin Nordegren, starts as the tournament favourite but at the rather large odds of 12/1 with Paddy Power. Phil Mickelson is a notch higher in the betting at 13/1 and Rory McIlroy is 14/1.

A strong European contingent will be in the US after a number of them made the controversial decision not to play in the Johnnie Walker Championship where Ryder Cup 2010 points are up for grabs for the final time. Those hoping for a wildcard for Colin Montgomerie’s team include Paul Casey (28/1), Padraig Harrington (33/1), Luke Donlad (60/1) and Justin Rose (66/1).

One player who won’t be involved is world number six Jim Furyk who was disqualified from the event after he overslept for a recent Pro-Am event. PGA Tour rules state that because Furyk missed his 730 am tee off time he cannot partake in the following event.
