The Barclays Betting: Tiger Woods Leads
Tiger Woods recorded his “best round of the year” to take the overnight lead in The Barclays.
Woods notched seven birdies to card an opening round of six under par and push himself firmly into Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin’s thinking ahead of his wildcard announcements. The American has been working on his swing with unofficial coach Sean Foley and the hard work appears to be paying dividends.
The world number one confirmed this week that his divorce from model Elin Nordegren had been completed at a cost of around £60million to the golfer.
Woods began the event at around the 12/1 mark but can now be backed at odds no bigger than the 11/4 currently available with Sportingbet.
The Barclays is the first leg of the FedEx Cup which Tiger has won twice in the last three years. Despite going into this event lagging behind the likes of Phil Mickelson he is now just 2/1 on Betfair to make that three out of four FedEx victories.
