USA Ryder Cup Team Betting

Colin Montgomerie last night announced that Padraig Harrington, Luke Donald and Edoardo Molinari would be his three wild card picks and thus complete his 12-man Ryder cup team. Corey Pavin still has another week before he announces his decision, but the bookmakers believe that three of those picks are already a certainty.

Unlike Europe the USA team will consist of eight automatic qualifiers and four wildcard picks. Tiger Woods is thought to be almost certain to receive one of those captain’s picks and can be backed at 1/20 with Boyle Sports to do so.

Two other players trade at short odds on prices to be one of Pavin’s select four. They are 2009 Open Championship winner Stewart Cink and 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson who can be bacled at odds of 2/5 and 1/4 respectively.

The fourth and final wildcard pick is, however, still very much in the balance. Anthony Kim is a 5/4 chance after he decided to undergo surgery earlier this year thinking that he had already accumulated enough points to gain automatic selection, Sean O’Hair is a 6/4 chance, Nick Watney is 7/2, Lucas Glover 3/1 and Rickie Fowler 9/2.

Corey Pavin will announce his decision in New York City on September 7 following this weekend’s Deutsche Bank championships.
