Shanghai Masters Snooker Betting Round One

There are just four matches remaining in the first round of the snooker season’s inaugural ranking event, the Shanghai Masters.

Ding Junhui v Jin Long

Ding didn’t get off to the best of starts in last week’s Premier League opener when he was beaten 5-1 by Shaun Murphy. He also doesn’t tend to cope very well with the pressures that are put upon him by his home fans and those are certainly amplified on home soil. Thirdly, and finally, he has had a tough summer battling with visa issues to enter the UK.

All in all things are not exactly stacked in the UK Champions favour and so backing him with any confidence at odds of 1/5 with Boyle Sports is not advisable. My advice is to either avoid betting on this match or have a small wager on Jin Long at 7/2.

Stephen Hendry v Martin Gould

Martin Gould was backed in from 13/8 to 11/8 over the course of yesterday and is now as short as 6/5 in some places. There two previous meetings have ended 5-3 one in favour of each player.

Shaun Murphy v Stephen Lee

Murphy got the defence of his Premier League crown off to a flyer with that 5-1 victory over Ding. He has also won the last two meetings between these two players rather comfortably and looks a solid bet at odds of 2/5.

Mark King v Joe Delaney

These two players have never met each other in a competitive match and Joe Delaney has very limited form at ranking events leaving little information to make a prediction on this one. However, these are the types of games which King tends to win and that is why he is a top 16 ranked player. Odds of 4/9 on King look about right.
