Gerard Houllier has returned to the cauldron of Premier League management after being appointed Martin O’Neill’s successor at Villa Park. With Villa’s next game not until Monday evening against Stoke Houllier has a few days to familiarise himself with his new players and implement a few ideas before the game. Looking more long term, Aston Villa are 3/1 to achieve a top 6 finish and 15/1 to break into the top 4 under the Frenchman’s stewardship. They are 2/1 to finish the season above Houllier’s previous employers Liverpool and just 2/7 to finish above city rivals Birmingham.
