Cesc Fabregas Injury News

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be out for three weeks following the diagnosis of a hamstring injury picked up against Sunderland at the weekend.

The Gunners’ captain suffered the injury when scoring one of the most bizarre goals that the Premier League has possibly ever seen. Fabregas chased down an Anton Ferdinand clearance from around 45 yards out, the ball deflected off the player and looped over the stranded Simon Mignolet and into the back of the Sunderland net.

The news is a massive blow to manager Arsene Wenger as Fabregas was just beginning to regain the form that had seen him attract so much attention from Barcelona in the summer. The 23-year-old will now miss games against Tottenham in the league cup, Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League and perhaps most crucially Chelsea in the Premier League.

Those two dropped points against Sunderland have left Arsenal four points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League and Victor Chandler now offer odds of 13/2 on them topping the table at the end of the season.
