Manchester City Face Injury Crisis

It appears that even the mega-rich are not immune to an injury crisis. Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini claims they “have big problems” in defence ahead of this weekend’s crucial Premier League fixture against Chelsea.

Mancini is set to be without Jerome Boateng, Aleksandar Kolarov, Wayne Bridge, Joleon Lescott and possibly Micah Richards amongst others. That means that City could be forced to field a midfielder in a back four alongside Pablo Zabaletta, Kolo Toure and Vincent Kompany, although a decision on the fitness of Richards has not yet been made.

City were dumped out of the Carling Cup last night at the hands of West Brom after failing to hold on to a first-half lead given to them by striker Jo.

Saturday’s 1245 kick off between Chelsea and City was expected to be the Blues’ first real test of the season. But with so many defensive injuries for City could this be another stroll in the park for Chelsea?

Totesport are offering odds of 6/5 that the Champions maintain their 100% record in the Premier League. City can be backed at odds of 21/10 and the draw is 9/4.
