Manuel Almunia Injury
Arsenal’s week goes from bad to worse with the news that goalkeeper Manuel Almunia will miss their midweek Champions League match with Partizan Belgrade due to injury.
The Spanish goalkeeper came under scrutiny again at the weekend in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion and picked up the elbow injury during that game. Arsene Wenger refused to blame his number one and was expected to stick with him for the midweek fixture but now Lukasz Fabianski will deputised between the sticks.
Despite calls from all quarters that The Gunners needed a new ‘keeper if they were to realistically challenge for major honours this season, Wenger failed to bring in another stopper in the summer transfer window. His interest in Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer appeared to be his only serious attempt to bring in a replacement for Almunia.
Arsenal are 4/6 with Boyle Sports to make it two wins out of two in the Champions League on Tuesday night. And can also be backed at odds of 17/10 to win whilst keeping a clean sheet.
