Korean Grand Prix In Doubt

Mr Formula 1 Bernie Ecclestone has expressed his concerns over whether the upcoming Korean Grand Prix will be able to go ahead.

The Yeongam track has yet to pass an FAI inspection ahead of the race which is set to be run over the weekend of October 22. Ecclestone this weekend commented: “It's not good. It should have been inspected six weeks ago."

Korean race officials remain confident however with a representative commenting: “We will have no problem in hosting the race on October 24 as we have almost completed work."

The Korean Grand Prix is one of four remaining races in the Formula 1 season and the cancellation of the race at this late stage would have dramatic effects on proceedings.

Mark Webber currently tops the standings by 11 points from Fernando Alonso in the improving Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton has failed to finish three of the last four races and that could have scuppered his chances of regaining the title. Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button remain in the hunt but the bookmakers seem to think it will be between the two drivers currently topping proceedings.

Blue Square offer odds of 7/4 that Webber will hang on to his current advantage, whilst it is 9/4 that Alonso will chase him down and surpass him before the end of the season.
