Premier League Snooker Betting: Week 3

Shaun Murphy v Marco Fu

Neither of these two players had an enjoyable visit to Glasgow for the World Open last week. Marco Fu was dumped out in the first round against Andrew Higginson and Shaun Murphy exited at the same stage against Dave Harold.

If I am honest I didn’t see Murphy’s defeat but Fu I did watch and he looked all at sea with his game, and in fact has done for a long time now. Murphy has won the last four meetings between the two players and I think that odds of 5/4, with Sportingbet, on him making that five looks to be the value bet.

Mark Williams v Ding Junhui

Mark Williams battled back from 2-0 down to beat Ding Junhui 3-2 at the quarter-final stage of last week’s World Open and make it two wins in a row against the Chinese superstar. Both players had been in great form all week and Ding looks to have put his early season form behind him.

There’s every chance that this best-of-six encounter could end all square and I wouldn’t put anyone off backing that outcome at odds of 21/10. However, it is the total centuries market where my money will be going with Paddy Power offering 4/6 about there being one or more in the match.

Mark Selby v Neil Robertson

World champion Neil Robertson added the World Open title to his cabinet last week by beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final. Tonight he makes his debut in the Premier League 2010 against Mark Selby.

Surprisingly the two have only met once in the past and that was way back in 2006; Selby edging out the Australian 5-3 on that occasion.

Robertson showed just why he is world champion in Glasgow last week and at odds of 9/5 with Sportingbet I don’t think that he is getting the respect that he deserves. Back him to win tonight’s match.
