Slovakia v Ireland Euro2012 Betting

Two points separate four teams in Group B with Slovakia, Ireland and Russia all joined at the top of the table on six points from three games.

Defeat at home to Russia was a crushing blow for Ireland’s Euro2012 qualification hopes after a promising start which included wins over Armenia and Andorra. Russia dominated the opening 60 minutes of the match before Ireland showed great resolve and determination in staging a comeback which threatened, but was ultimately unsuccessful.

That 3-2 defeat ended Ireland’s 100% record in Euro2012 qualification but a win against Slovakia tonight would put them back on track. Although, one suspects that Giovanni Trapattoni would take a draw if asked before the game.

The home side are made clear favourites for this one with Betfred offering odds of 5/4 about them winning. Ireland can be backed at 9/4 and the draw also at the same price.

Robbie Keane began the fruitless comeback against Russia with a penalty, and had hit the bar when the scores were still 0-0. He is 13/2 to open the scoring tonight, but perhaps most surprising is the fact that No Goalscorer is favourite here at odds of 11/2.
