Argentina v Brazil Betting Preview
It is a sign of the times that Argentina should face Brazil in Doha, Qatar today. Nevertheless, the spectacle of two of international football’s greatest enemies going head to head will be something that the world will stop to watch.
Both sides have new managers following disappointing results at the 2010 World Cup but central figures in the team remain largely the same.
For Argentina we can expect the play to revolve around Lionel Messi who is likely to start up top alongside Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain. Javier Mascherano will be the central point of an otherwise inexperienced midfield.
Brazil welcome back AC Milan midfielder Ronaldinho to the fold with Robinho set to start up front alongside Chelsea’s summer transfer target Neymar.
The bookmakers have their odds tilted slightly in favour of Argentina with William Hill going 8/5 on La Albiceleste, 9/5 on the Samba Boys and 21/10 on the draw.
Lionel Messi is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring with his more prolific strike partner Higuain at 5/1, and for Brazil Robinho is 13/2 and Neymar is a 7/1 chance.
I think we can expect to see an attacking and open game with both sides looking to put on an exhibition for the Qatar public and millions watching on TV. Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 21/20.
