John Higgins v Stephen Lee Snooker Betting

World number one John Higgins takes on Stephen Lee in the first round of the snooker World Championships this Wednesday for the chance to play Ricky Walden or Rory McLeod in the last 16.

Lee has been in very good form this season and was one of the qualifiers that all of the seeded players wanted to avoid. As it happened the tournament favourite was pitted against the resurgent 36-year-old to set up one of the more eagerly anticipated opening round matches.

The bookmakers understandably favour three-time World Champion Higgins at odds of 3/10 but Lee is far from being a rank outsider at 5/2 to progress to the next round.

Another of the tournament favourites, Mark Selby, begins his campaign this Wednesday when he takes on World Championship rookie Jimmy Robertson.

Sportingbet have Selby as short as 1/12 to progress to the second round where he would face Stephen Hendry. Robertson is quoted at odds of 7/1 for what would certainly be the upset of the first round.
