Ronnie OSullivan v John Higgins Betting
In a match fit to grace any final over the past decade Ronnie O’Sullivan meets John Higgins at the quarter-final stages of this year’s snooker World Championships.
They’ve each won three World Championships and between them have dominated the game over the past ten years. O’Sullivan is said to be the most naturally talented player ever to play the game while Higgins is believed to have the greatest mental fortitude in the sport.
The pair haven’t played each other a great deal in the recent past due to Ronnie’s lack of enthusiasm for the game and subsequent withdrawal from many events. Over the last 15 years however Higgins edges the head-to-head comparisons by 18 matches to 15.
Going into this one the bookmakers are unable to split the pair with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») going 10/11 for each player to progress to the semis.
A pointer to just how highly these two players are rated is that we have odds of 23/20 on there being more than 4.5 century breaks in the match. O’Sullivan is the 4/5 favourite to make the highest break of the match.
The match will conclude on Wednesday evening with the winner likely to be made the betting favourite to claim a fourth world title.
