Jedward Backed in Eurovision Betting
Ireland’s Eurovision representatives Jedward have been backed into 9/1 with bookmaker Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») as the Irish firm brace themselves for a payout in excess of £1million should the former X-Factor contestants triump.
“OMG! [Jedward] now just 14/1 for the Eurovision and a payout somewhere north of €1m for ourselves if it happens!” said Paddy Power on Twitter yesterday. Followed by “Jedward now 10/1 for Eurovision glory. We have now officially got the fear!” a few hours later, then “Jedward now 9/1! The whole world has gone completely crazy” this morning.
It appears that other bookmakers aren’t as concerned about Jedward with the likes of totesport and Stan James still offering odds of 16/1 about the twins becoming Ireland’s first winners in the Eurovision contest since 1996.
France currently top the betting across the board with some bookmakers going as short as 6/4 about a French victory. United Kingdom and Estonia battle for second favouritism at odds of between 6/1 and 10/1 depending on which bookmaker you chose.
