Bird's Bradford Bulls debut to be delayed

Australian stand-off Greg Bird will have to wait until he can make his debut for Bradford Bulls in the Super League after having his visa application denied.Bird will go on trial in Australia on April 27th for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and it appears unlikely that he will be granted permission to play rugby in the UK until the issue is resolved. The 24-year-old signed for Bradford last month after being released from his contract with Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.Commenting on the matter in a statement, Bradford said: "Rather than fight this decision through the appeals process, Greg has decided to have his day in court and prove his innocence before reapplying."The Bulls take on Hull Kingston Rovers at home on Sunday and are odds-on in the Rugby League betting to win the match.Overall, they are the fourth favourites to be crowned 2009 Super League champions, behind Leeds, St Helens and Warrington.
