Protests lodged ahead of opening Grand Prix

Four Formula One teams have lodged protests against rivals ahead of this season's opening Grand Prix.A row has broken out over a part being used by three teams - Brawn GP, Toyota and Williams.Ferrari, BMW Sauber, Renault and Red Bull all claim the rear diffusers being used are giving an unfair advantage, despite race stewards stating that they conform to the rules. The part in question can significantly affect grip and speed as it contributes to the downforce created by the car.Commenting on the official complaint, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner remarked: "It's nothing personal against the teams, it's simply looking to clarify regulations - our interpretations and [those of] others have been different."The controversy could affect British driver Jenson Button's chances of securing a second Grand Prix victory, after impressive form in testing saw him installed as favourite for this weekend's contest in Melbourne. His participation had been threatened when Honda pulled out of the sport, but the buy-out of the team and creation of Brawn GP has allowed him to appear on the grid and he is 4/1 favourite for the race with Betfred.
