United go top, but injuries strike
Manchester United have moved back to the top of the Premier League table with a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth at Old Trafford. The win puts the champions three points clear of Liverpool with a game in hand, but they were dealt a blow by a pair of injuries.Gary Neville left the field early in the game to be replaced by John O'Shea, only for the Irishman to then have to be substituted in the second half. And manager Sir Alex Ferguson expressed disappointment that the referee did not take action in either case."They are both looking at being out for weeks, because of two pretty bad tackles on them," he said, but added that Wes Brown may soon make a recovery to fill the void at right-back.Meanwhile, a goalless draw for Chelsea against Everton damaged their hopes of catching the leaders, with the gap between the London side and United now six points. The champions are 1/12 favourites to retain the title, with Liverpool given odds of 5/1 by Extrabet.
