Bookies back O'Sullivan to defend title
Ronnie O'Sullivan has been tipped to successfully defend his World Championship title this year, with snooker's showpiece event getting underway tomorrow (April 18th).The world number is rated at 2/1 in the online sports betting market, while Betfred - sponsor of the tournament - offers punters odds of 9/1.However, Ali Carter - the man beaten by O'Sullivan in last year's final - has suggested that he is unlikely to repeat his triumph at the Crucible.Carter noted that the champion is been given a difficult draw, reducing his chances of reaching the final. And he added: "I think John Higgins is a good bet and Peter Ebdon at 33-1 is who my money would be on."Carter himself is joint fourth favourite along with Higgins, while bookmakers are divided over the second favourite - with Paddy Power tipping Stephen Maguire at 7/1 and Skybet offering the same odds for Mark Selby.
