Hamilton's odds shortened after car is improved
Lewis Hamilton's odds of winning the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend have come in after a much-improved performance at practice. The world champion has been struggling in this season's McLaren, but benefited from changes made to the car this week. After Formula One governing body the FIA ruled that a rear diffuser being used by Brawn GP, Toyota and Williams is legal, McLaren quickly updated their own design.Hamilton set the fastest time in the first practice session in Shanghai and is now 12/1 to win the race with Sportingbet, the bookmaker rating him as third favourite. But fellow Englishman Jenson Button - who was won both of the opening races - remains firm favourite after recording the quickest time in the second of Friday's sessions, having been pipped by Hamilton in the first. He is priced 19/20 by Stan James, with his Brawn GP team-mate Rubens Barrichello second favourite after recording the third-fastest times in both sessions.
